Job Description
Manual machine shop seeks Mechanic/Millwright to join their experienced team. Exciting opportunity to learn and grow from the best in the business! The ideal candidate will have completed a formal apprenticeship program, trade school, or military service school in mechanics and/or on the job training with 2 or more years of experience in the trade. High mental and visual acuity are a must!
Job Summary: Use basic metallurgical knowledge as applicable to fastener selection, removal, and torque and hot and cold work with respect to interference fits. Read and comprehend technical instructions, specifications and blueprints. Possess mechanical knowledge and skills with respect to all types of mechanical fastener and bearing class fits.
Job Function: Disassemble, inspect, coordinate and perform repairs, reassemble, align test and troubleshoot all types of equipment and systems. Use all mechanics hand, precision measuring and power tools, rigging/lifting devices, hydraulic jacks and oxy/acetylene torches. Debur rotors, impellers, and diaphragm blades. Assist in fitting babbitting bearings. Fit gear to achieve optimum contacts, alignments, joint mating and general assembly fitting.

- Works with power driven equipment.
- Overhaul and repair work may involve assignments in overhead structures or work beneath machinery.
- Frequent stooping and bending required.
- Works with costly metals where possibility of damage or spoilage is high.
- Close attention and care required to prevent damage to complex machine tools.
- High mental and visual acuity required.
