Job Description
The Inventory Specialist / Material Handler is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records while supporting the day-to-day movement, organization, and storage of materials within the facility. This position combines inventory control responsibilities with hands-on material handling to ensure materials are properly received, identified, stored, tracked, and available when needed.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, comfortable working with inventory systems, and willing to work hands-on in a warehouse environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
· Maintain accurate inventory records, including quantities, locations, receipts, transfers, and material movements.
· Perform routine cycle counts and assist with physical inventory counts.
· Research and resolve inventory discrepancies.
· Verify materials are stored in the correct designated locations.
· Update inventory locations as materials are moved throughout the facility.
· Assist with maintaining accurate part numbers, descriptions, quantities, and other inventory information.
· Identify damaged, missing, incorrectly labeled, or misplaced materials and report discrepancies to management.
· Assist with inventory audits and reconciliation activities.
· Maintain organized documentation related to receiving, inventory movements, and material transactions.
· Work with warehouse leadership and other departments to ensure inventory information remains accurate and up to date.
Material Handling
· Receive, unload, inspect, and organize incoming materials.
· Move materials safely throughout the warehouse using forklifts, pallet jacks, and other approved material-handling equipment.
· Pick, stage, and prepare materials for internal transfers, production needs, or shipment.
· Load and unload trucks as needed.
· Properly label and store materials in designated warehouse locations.
· Assist with organizing warehouse and storage areas to maximize space and accessibility.
· Follow established procedures for handling oversized, heavy, or high-value materials.
· Support other material handlers during periods of high volume or operational demand.
Physical Requirements
· Ability to regularly stand, walk, bend, reach, push, and pull throughout the workday.
· Ability to safely lift and move materials in accordance with company safety requirements.
· Ability to operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment when properly trained and authorized.
· Ability to work in a warehouse environment that may include varying temperatures, noise levels, and frequent equipment movement.
Key Performance Expectations
Success in this position will be measured by:
· Inventory accuracy
· Timely completion of cycle counts
· Accurate recording of material movements
· Reduction of missing or misplaced inventory
· Proper organization and labeling of storage locations
· Safe and efficient material handling
